Client: Orion Primary School
The Orion Primary School is working directly with Amthal Fire & Security to create bespoke fire safety and security solutions at its new and growing site, to protect pupils and staff, inside and outside the classroom.
The Orion Primary School is part of a federation of two schools that forms a large learning community. In 2014, it moved to its current site, doubling in size to offer a four-form entry. The school continues to expand to offer the very latest learning facilities and commit to its ‘Gold Star Primary Learning’ approach to its students and provide a brighter future.
Amthal has worked directly with the school to update its intruder system and integrate CCTV and access control solutions, which can easily be added to as and when the school adds new, often prefabricated, buildings on site. Internally, refuge alarms, disabled emergency control and fire safety systems have also been installed.
Says Karen Hawkins School Business Manager at The Orion Primary School: “With the continuing addition of new learning facilities across our site, we recognised that we needed to have measures in place to maintain integrated security. Amthal was able to offer an all-encompassing solution that could grow with us.
“The concept of just having one point of call is brilliant, as it means fire safety and security can be maintained and updated as and when required. This all adds to the smooth running of the school and means staff and pupils can make the most of the teaching and learning opportunities provided inside and outside the classroom, all in a safe and secure environment.”
Amthal has been careful to balance security updates with ensuring a pleasant environment is maintained for the benefit of all staff, pupils and visitors. The same is true for the Nursery facilities offered on a different site, where Amthal also looks after the fire and security arrangements.
The quest of The Orion Primary School – its ‘Gold Star Primary Learning’ approach to each child’s educational journey – is to provide the very best start, whilst ensuring lessons and activities remain creative and fun, simple and ‘inspires the children to become very special.’
David Williamson, Account Manager at Amthal says: “Our aim is to ensure the teachers and all staff can focus purely on delivering the quest of the school without needing to be concerned about the safety or security of the site. By being the preferred supplier, it means as the facilities grow, we can work around learning timetables as and when required to design, install and maintain systems and solutions.”
