Amthal Fire & Security has worked with Directors at Herts Music Centre from initial design to full maintenance services to ensure fire safety and security at its impressive new music store.
The 2,500 square foot retail space, based in St Albans, stocks some of the world’s leading brands in music from orchestral to contemporary and also offers instrument repairs, rentals and music tuition.
Having recently revamped the business, new business owners established that the fire safety and security on site was all out of date, and concerned over its compliance and protection capability, contacted local experts Amthal to complete a full assessment of the fire safety and security systems.
Says David Roberts, Herts Music Centre Executive Director: “When we purchased Herts Music Centre, we created a five year investment plan, to establish our venue as the ‘go to’ destination for all things music. And this included a major re-imagining of what music retail should be, and an extensive refresh of our product and service range.
“Just as important, was ensuring the site itself was secure and fire safe. Amthal assessed the systems on site at the early stages of our refurbishment process so that we could modify plans in line with their recommendations. They worked around our timescales for the install and patiently trained us with the new systems, which are smart and can be controlled remotely. Their integration with our overall building management saves on resources and administration processes, which is always welcome!”
Amthal installed new fire extinguishers in compliance with latest fire safety legislation and also designed and installed a new cloud-based intruder alarm to accommodate the refurbished premises. Amthal now actively maintains the systems to ensure regular testing and servicing.
Says Paul Rosenthal, Sales Director at Amthal Fire & Security: “What Herts Music Centre demonstrates is the benefits of considering fire safety and security at the initial design and specification stage of any refurbishment programme. This way systems and access points can be considered early and layouts modified to accommodate.
“At the same time, we can discuss early on the requirements such as integrating with EPOS systems and installation work schedules could fit around the centre’s timescales. Overall, the result is an effective, stylish and compliant fire safety and security solution that has created efficiencies without compromising on their ability to ‘protect what’s precious.”
