What does fire extinguisher servicing involve?
Fire extinguisher servicing involves comprehensive inspections by professionally trained BAFE accredited engineers, to ensure that your fire extinguishers are fully operational and compliant.
During an inspection we will check that your fire extinguisher is the correct weight and pressure, and look for any signs of corrosion or damage.
In addition, labels are checked to ensure that they are readable, and dip tubes, hoses and mechanisms are checked to see if they work correctly.
We provide maintenance and testing services for all types of fire extinguishers, including water, foam, CO2, and powder extinguishers. All fire extinguisher servicing and maintenance includes an approved Certificate of Inspection.
How often should fire extinguishers be serviced?
It’s a legal requirement under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 for fire extinguishers to be serviced annually.
In addition to these compulsory yearly services, however, a competent person must inspect fire extinguishers at least monthly to check for faults. During these checks, you should look for missing or used extinguishers, ensure equipment remains unobstructed and clearly visible, and make sure all tamper seals and safety pins are intact and that the pressure gauge remains in the green zone.
